This shift in accommodation preferences has been attributed primarily to tourists escaping urban overcrowding in search of nature experiences and the need for affordable alternatives to traditional hotels.
According to a survey conducted by Milanuncios, the demand for camper vans has experienced an impressive increase of 321% in the first seven months of the year, while motorhomes have followed this trend with an increase of 12.61% compared to 2022. These figures are even more surprising considering the average increase of 7.81% in rental prices.
Prices fluctuate depending on the season, destination, and rental platform, but it's possible to find a wide range of affordable options for travelers. From campervans for two people starting at €55 per day to spacious motorhomes for four travelers starting at €90, tourist mobility options have diversified to suit different budgets.
«The surge in prices during these holidays has pushed us as a society to seek new alternatives, as the data shows,» stated Íñigo Vallejo, spokesperson for Milanuncios. «We turn to the secondhand market to find other ways to travel and have new experiences, enjoying holidays that are often not feasible in the conventional market due to their prices.».
This shift towards alternative accommodation options has also been reflected in increased interest in camping. The Spanish Federation of Campsites (FEEC) reported a 28.31% increase in demand for campsites between January and July. Furthermore, average occupancy is expected to exceed 90%, with 80% occupancy in outdoor pitches for motorhomes, campervans, and caravans.
